Memory Content: Text, voice recordings, and photos you capture in the app

We Will Never Sell Your Data

Third-Party AI Processing

Jotz requires your explicit consent before sending any data to third-party AI services. When you first use the app, you will be presented with a detailed consent screen explaining what data is sent and who receives it. You must accept this consent to use Jotz.

To provide AI-powered features, we send certain data to cloud AI services:

Voice Recordings: Audio recordings are sent to OpenAI's Whisper service for transcription to text
Text Content: Your memory text is processed by Amazon Nova AI (via AWS Bedrock) to generate summaries, extract categories, and enable semantic search
Photos: Images you capture are analyzed by Amazon Nova AI (via AWS Bedrock) to identify products and generate descriptions
Location Coordinates: GPS coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap and Google Places API to identify nearby places and businesses

Data Protection:

All data is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS encryption
Neither AWS nor OpenAI use your data to train their AI models
AI processing partners are contractually obligated to protect your data
You can withdraw consent by deleting your account at any time

Data Sharing

We only share your information in these limited circumstances:

AI Processing: AWS Bedrock (Amazon Nova) processes your text and photos; OpenAI Whisper processes voice recordings as described above
Location Services: OpenStreetMap and Google Places receive GPS coordinates (only) to identify nearby places
Cloud Hosting: AWS hosts our backend services with industry-standard security
Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights
With Your Consent: We may share information when you explicitly choose to share memories with other Jotz users

Community Data Sharing (Future Feature)

In a future release, we may offer an optional feature that allows you to share anonymized product location data with the Jotz user community. This feature will be:

Opt-in only: You must explicitly choose to participate
Anonymized: Your personal identity will not be attached to shared data
Beneficial: Helps the community discover where products are available

You will always have full control over whether to participate in community data sharing.
